Creating Team Ties

Business TeamThe business world can be high stress, high paced, and highly critical. Your weekly “team meetings” don’t really facilitate an environment conducive to building relationships, and your office doesn’t have time to go out to leisurely lunches together. This is where team building activities and outings can help your company become stronger and more efficient. Playland Skate Center offers 5 reasons why team building is essential to the success of your company.

1. It Encourages Communication.

Creating conversation and rapport between employees and management in a fun environment helps your employees to transfer that relationship into their work environment. Better communication leads to higher quality work.

2. Motivating Challenges

Building leadership goes hand in hand with team building. The more confident your employees are to express their ideas and opinions, the more confident they will be to take on new challenges that require them to take risks, and lean on their other employees for their success.

3. Finding New Experiences

Each time you experience something new, it gives you a different perspective. It allows you to think outside of the box and bring to the table fresh, new, creative ideas. Your team building experiences will give your employees the chance to do something new, leaving them feeling refreshed and ready with lots of new ideas for the office.

4. Finding the Answer

Requiring your team to work together to solve a problem will help them develop their rational and strategic problem solving skills. The more often they have to solve a problem of any caliber, the easier the next problem will be to solve as your employees gain experience working together and getting to know each other’s strengths and weaknesses.

5. Breaking Down the Walls

Employees often see a huge divide between them and management, making it hard to communicate problems or work together. Putting everyone on a level playing field – such as learning how to roller skate – gives employees the opportunity to see their supervisors on the same level and think of them as a colleague rather than just a boss.

Call Playland Skate Center in Austin, TX today to schedule your company’s team building outing. We look forward to seeing you loosen your tie and let your hair down to have some fun at our roller skating rink!

Hosting a Successful Fundraiser

Fundraising for your school, church, or other charitable group can be a challenge – but it can also be fun! When you decide it’s time for your group to take on the challenge of raising money through a fundraiser, Playland Skate Center is here to help your Austin, TX fundraiser be a success.

Pillow Elementary FundrasierSet a Goal

There are a few simple steps you can take to help ensure that your fundraiser meets the needs of your group, and is a hit with everyone who attends. The very first thing that your group needs to do is to set a fundraising goal. Figure out just how much money your group wants to walk away with at the end of the day and use that goal to give you something to work towards. Now, don’t forget that you’ll need to add up whatever expenses you will incur through the planning and hosting of your event, and add those expenses to your projected goal as well.

Next you need to strategically decide who you are going to invite to your event. You should consider people’s involvement with your cause, philanthropic history, and their capacity to give. Also, you should be taking into consideration the type of things that these people like and use that as guidance for the type of event that you should plan.

Spread the Word

Now is the time to come up with a creative marketing and advertising plan that will share your event and your cause with the right people. When you build great relationships, you can have a wildly successful fundraiser. The more personally connected to a cause that your audience is, the more willing they will be to reach into their pockets and hand over their dollars to help your group be successful.

Ask! Then Say Thank You

Once people make it to your event, it’s time to ask for them to donate. The number one reason that people don’t donate, is because they were never asked to! Equally important to remember is that once you have a donor, thank them, profusely.
