Top 5 Roller Skating Songs

Roller skating is all about enjoying a great time with good friends – and listening to great music! Playland Skate Center has pulled together the top 5 favorite roller skating songs that we think our skaters like to hear the most at our Austin, TX skating rink.

#1 – ‘C’mon N’ Ride It (The Train)’ by the Quad City DJsDisco Ball

We don’t care how old you are, what type of music you like, or how many times you have been to a skating rink, we know you’ve heard this song. Played at roller skating rinks across the country, it just isn’t a night out roller skating without doing the train, at least once.

#2 – ‘Bounce, Rock, Skate, Roll’ by Vaughan Mason & Crew

This is a song about roller skating, how could it possibly be left off of this list? In the 70s and 80s, roller skating was a popular past time. It was sure to be made the subject of at least one song.

#3 – ‘Ice, Ice, Baby’ by Vanilla Ice

This one’s for the generation of 90s skaters out there that are still rolling around the rink. While this song didn’t do so well when it was originally released in 1989 and again in 1990, it is now Vanilla Ice’s most well known tune.

#4 – ‘Boogie Fever’ by the Sylvers

Afros. Coordinated dance moves. A brass section and disco-style piano. Nothing screams 70s like a song with “boogie” in the title, but nothing screams roller skating more either. That’s why this one made it to our top 5 list.

#5 – The ‘Hokey Pokey’

Who knows who wrote this song. The fact of the matter is, it’s a fun little dance song, and doing it on roller skates makes it even more interesting.
